The band of Richard Ashcroft (vocals), Pete Salisbury (drums), Simon Jones (bass) and Nick McCabe (guitar) helped define the Britpop wave of the 1990s, and like other bands in the genre, their catalogue is characterised by a string of outstanding hits that are now an essential part of the British songbook, including legendary songs ‘Bitter Sweet Symphony’, ‘She's A Superstar’, ‘The Drugs Don't Work’ and ‘Sonnet’. These are of course included on the 2LP Best Of compilation ‘This Is Music’, which contains a total of 14 of their greatest hits.

The tracklist for this 2LP edition has been slightly revised to include two songs from their 2008 reunion album ‘Forth’. In addition, their second single ‘She's A Superstar’ is now included in its original length of over 8 minutes.
