1989's Automatic is the third album from Glasgow alternative rock institution The Jesus And Mary Chain. At this point in their career, the group was essentially a duo, made up of brothers Jim and William Reid and a drum machine. Automaticfeatures dark, twisted pop, sometimes soaked in feedback and sometimes pounded out with a drum-machine backing.
