John Williams' original motion picture soundtrack to Steven Spielberg's blockbuster 1975 thriller Jaws which earned the celebrated composer an Academy Award and has been ranked by the American Film Institute as among the top 10 most memorable scores in music history. Williams explained that the compelling main "shark" theme was "so simple, insistent and driving, that it seems unstoppable, like the attack of the shark" while Spielberg even admitted that "the score was clearly responsible for half of the success of that movie...John Williams made our movie more adventurous and gripping than I ever thought possible.”
