Reprising the love interests of swashbuckling Jack Colton (Michael Douglas) and romance novelist Joan Wilder (Kathleen Turner) The Jewel of the Nile is a loose sequel to 1984's surprise adventure-comedy hit Romancing the Stone. Set in the remote desert areas of North Africa, the soundtrack is naturally themed in a rhythmic African flavoring, but also completely drenched in a synthetic, electro-dance veneer.
