Wilson, Nancy - Today, Tomorrow, Forever
Wilson, Nancy - Today, Tomorrow, Forever
RARE/2HAND VINYL LP ON CAPITOL 1964.
Capitol ST 2082 made in USA with original inner sleeve. Vinyl EX. Cover VG.
Although Dinah Washington was one of her major influences, Nancy Wilson is more a song stylist than a jazz singer, drawing equally from the blues, R&B, and gospel. This gem from 1964 features Wilson interpreting a number of the era's pop standards, each delivered in less than 3 minutes. Whether frolicking on Antonio Carlos Jobim's beloved bossa nova, the "One Note Samba," the Latin lilt of "On Broadway," or belting the blues on the Ray Charles hits "Unchain my Heart" and "I Can't Stop Loving You," Wilson's clear diction lights up the tunes. Her ballad renditions of Anthony Newley's "What Kind of Fool Am I?" and the Burt Bacharach-Hal David waltz "Wives and Lovers" show why she still reigns as one of music's greatest divas.
