Plenty of fireworks go off during this 1959 session that Coleman Hawkins recorded for Prestige. Here Hawkins reaches to ever higher improvisatory vistas, urged on by guest Charlie Shavers' exciting and brassy trumpet playing. On the opening track, "Hawk Eyes," guitarist Tiny Grimes uses a distorted sound to add energy and verve to the proceedings.
