Canadian Amp was initially released in 2001 as a tour and mail order only CD on Neko Case's own Lady Pilot label. The 8-song set is comprised of Neko solo in her kitchen, covering the work of Canadian artists such as Sook-Yin Lee, Mike O'Neil (Inbreds), Neil Young, and Lisa Marr, to go along with a Hank Williams cover, a traditional folk song and a pair of new originals (including the live favorite, "Favorite"). The feel is more morose and stripped down than on her previous albums, allowing Neko's voice to truly shine more than ever.
